My name is Khalid Hashmi and i a 32 years old. I am a married person and proud father of 6 years old son and a very beautiful 2 years old daughter. I have been smoking from my high school and it's been about more than 14 years now. Recently i have started to have morning cough and also seems to little pain in the center chest as well. I have decided this my sister who is general physician and she told me that i need to quit smoking immediately.
I have decided tdy that it would be my last day of this bad addiction and i won't smoke again at any cost since this life so beautiful that i cannot burn it down with my hands. Above all my kids need me so i have to do it from them.
I just wants to have few tips that can be useful and little moral support from you people to get me out of this.
Regards,
Khalid Hashmi.

Re: Just Decided to quit my 14 years old addiction
Hi, I am a veteran of 11 years quit. It is never easy to quit. If you are the only one smoking, quitting will be easier. You need to get supplied with sugarless candy, gum and straws. Also, exercise to take your mind off the quit, also get a hobby to keep hands busy. And come to the boards, it helped me and it will help you also. You can do it. Hugs for today.

Hello. Congratulations on your quit. I know it must be hard as I am going through the same thing. We both have similar situations. Having young children and smoking for such a long time. I wish you the best of luck. For me, its been 24hrs since I last lit up a cigarette. I must admit though, it is really hard. Hard in there and check in to let me know how your doing. Here's to wishing us luck.

Hi !!!
I have been a non-smoker for almost 30 years now. Like you, I started as a teenager.
My tips are to drink ice water...I don't know why, but it really helped me when I had a craving, and don't fool yourself by ever thinking that you can "only have just one".
I also found that chewing gum was helpful. Put aside the money you would be spending each week on cigarettes in a jar. At the end of the month, treat yourself or your family to something special. The money sure adds up!
