Started Champix yesterday

Not sure how I'm going to feel I have just started taking it and I have a history of anxiety and depression... i'm hoping it will actually cheer me up! as I have been struggling with feeling a little down lately... lets see how it goes and ill try to keep a daily log of how i'm feeling for everyone else that is thinking of taking it. Good luck to everyone else that is giving up

Re: Started Champix yesterday

Hi, I am an Aussie so this might sound like a dumb question, but is Champix a stop smoking patch or tablet or something?

Thanks for the almost instant reply Melow, it almost seems like you are over the back fence. Good luck with your challenge, I was dreading it and in the end with a bit of planning I pulled it off.
Cheers.... Simo.

Re: Started Champix yesterday

Good Luck Mel, I was really not looking forward to giving up, but as I was a couple of years away from retiring that might have been a bit of motivation. But after 45 years of nonstop smoking, stopping was a real bad dream. However it turned out a non event in my life and these days I am a happy chappy. In fact now I feel like a real mongrel for making my beautiful wife ( Of 53 years) and my 3 boys suffer ciggy smoke in the house and car etc for all those years. Mind you it was an acceptable activity back in the 1950s -70s.

Re: Started Champix yesterday

Thank you It does become a big part of your life...and yes there was not the education there is now on the health impacts, so i'm pretty sure they don't hold it against you, you sound a wonderful Husband and Father I must say when I have stopped I have felt brighter and happier, its comforting to know you were able to give up after a long time smoking, that's an amazing turn around. I hope I can say the same to someone else one day.

Thank you

Re: Started Champix yesterday

I have been taking Chantix for 4 weeks, I took my last pill yesterday. Saturday it will be 3 weeks I haven't Smoked a cigarette. I feel the urge once in a while only for a second. Should I go get a refill? or just know I have confidence I won't smoke again.

thanks,

Re: Started Champix yesterday

Hang in there TWINSIS, they say when you stop it takes a week for every year you smoked to get rid of the gunk in your lungs. I actually stopped 18 months before my triple bypass. And now 11 years later I am cruising along on my reconditioned engine, and have lived 30 years longer than my father who died of a heart attack on his 43rd birthday in 1953. Hooray for modern medical science.
