Good for you!
I smoked for 12 years, and I also related smoking with drinking - I smoked so much more when I drank! I "quit" twice, for about 2 months each time before I really Quit... I have been smoke-free for 6 months now, and I feel so much better.
Believe it or not, I didn't do a thing different. No gum, no patches, nothing. Just a very supportive husband who held my hand every step of the way. It wasn't easy - there were times when I felt like I was having a nervous breakdown the urges were so strong. For 5 1/2 months I wanted NOTHING more than just to have ONE smoke. So, I broke down and bought a pack. I TRIED to smoke one, and it made me so sick to my stomach I had to get as far away from it as possible... haven't had the craving since!
And you're right - feeling better is a HUGE plus, not to mention smelling better! And even your senses are better - esp smell & taste! It's a whole new world

and I love it!
