Unhappy Trouble Yawning

Hello,

I quit smoking about 4 months ago. I didn't use anything to quit. I just decided to stop and haven't had a smoke since. The cravings are gone...thank god.

But now I have a new problem. I am having problems yawning. I don't know if it's releated to smoking though. When I try to yawn, it seems that I can't get a complete yawn out. I start to take a deep breath and just before the yawn would become satisfying and complete the yawn stops. But the feeling of having to yawn remains. This is very agravating. If anyone has any solutions I would love to here them.

Thanks,

mtg

I don't know if this will help, but I read somewhere that one of the big problems with quitting smoking is our breathing. When we smoked we would sit and deep breath for about 7 minutes. The act of inhaling the smoke and then exhaling it was very relaxing to the body. When we quit smoking, we don't often do this anymore. I have found that when I run, I have to do a couple of those really deep breaths a few times. I don't know if this has anything to do with yawning, but maybe try deep breathing a couple times throughout the day.

Re: Trouble Yawning

Hi mtg - I just read your post about not being able to yawn. Last night when I went to bed I could not yawn which seems to be a precursor to sleeping. Today I still cannot yawn. Did you ever have a resolution to this. I have not smoked for 20 years and have never had this happen before. Does anyone know?
