 Quit or become chronic
Hi Everyone,
I've been posting on the spinal board for a bit and am now facing quitting smoking, too. I quit once for 3 years and once for 11 years (divorce did me in) and have been trying to quit since. Went to my GP yesterday and have bronchitis AGAIN. She's been on my case about this for ages (she had throat cancer from smoking so she knows), and told me that if I didn't quit this bronchitis stuff would become chronic. So here I am, my first full day without a butt. My husband smokes, but has promised to not smoke in the house any more. I think that will help as it was so easy to pick up one of his other times I tried to quit. Am doing the gum thing (again) and hope I don't get addicted to it. I've tried the herbal stuff and the second half of the seven days was like going cold turkey. I basically wanted to drive to Boston and jump off the new bridge. LOL
Anyhow...wish me luck. She truly scared me with the news, so I'm hoping the fear will stay even after I'm feeling better. Also, if I have to have spinal surgery I know that recovery requires giving it up. I'm a writer and pretty much chain smoke while working, so this is going to be a tough one. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, choo-choo.
