spastic dysphonia and thyroid relationship

My wife has been experiencing speech problems that have been diagnosed as spastic dysphonia, but because in the past she has been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, I suspect there may be a link. Find the right doctor of course is the needle in the haystack. My wife is 59 years old, and we live in the New York City Metro area.
