Very worried. Spinal tuberculosis numbness in legs

Hi All,

My brother was diagnosed with spinal tuberculosis 4 days back stating there is huge amount of puss in c7 and d7. It took almost 8 months and many different doctor visits for him to arrive at this diagnosis.
Now his legs have lot of numbness and legs itching.. he is able to still walk though. he is really worried that if it's too late or what??

He is currently on AKT4 anti biotics. Can u pls advice when he will start feeling better on his legs?? When will his numbness go away?

Re: Very worried. Spinal tuberculosis numbness in legs

Hello and welcome to the forum. I'm very sorry about your brother. I think it would be helpful to contact the dr that prescribed the antibiotics and tell him about the itching your brother has just in case the antibiotics are causing a reaction or an allergy or a possible side effect. I have neuropathy from spinal cord damage and i take a medicine called Lyrica or pregabalin to help with the neuropathy symptoms. I also have had to stay under the care of a spine specialist, neurosurgeon, for years. Spinal TB is variable and causes different symptoms and problems in the spine from person to person and treatment and prognosis depends on the severity of the disease so the dr should be able to help answer questions. I'm not clear from your post but was your brother just diagnosed and just started treatment?
