I was hit from behind while playing hockey 6 weeks ago and went head first into the boards. My neck snapped to the left side. I got up feeling a little dizzy with a little pain and soreness in my left trap and shoulder, but didnt think much of it. The next morning i woke up and my shoulder, directly over my a.c., joint was incredibly sore. I went to my chiropractor the next day and we both thought that i had strained my a.c. joint. I started doing some exercises and the pain that was centrally located directly over my a.c. joint slowly went away, however a dull ache and pain/numbness feeling began to appear in my neck, trap and arm. I went to an orthopeadist who also diagnosed me as having a shoulder strain. The pain in my trap and neck since then has continually grown even while going to physical therapy. By this time my family, chiropractor, and i realized that something was wrong with my neck, after all i did go head first into the boards and snapped my neck. WE beleieve that spinal alignment is definitely involved and could be a herniated disc or nerve problem. I am going in for an m.r.i. and x-ray soon. I have had a history of spine alignment problems, including a fracture in my L4, L5 vertebrates and spondylothesis with sciatic nerve pain going down my leg. I have since gotten over that fairly well since it happenned a few years ago, but i still feel pain in my leg sometimes. I was owndering if anyone has had a similiar experience and what the outcome was? I am only twenty years old and am scared to deat that this will affect me the rest of my life and i wont be able to lift wieghts or work out seriously, which is one of the most important things to me. I have been very depressed lately letting my grades slip and not engaging in any type of social life, due to the pain and depression. I am only 20 years old. please help me!!! any advice is welcome.
