Fusion C5-7 - Spinal Cord Disorders Message Board

GOOD TIMES, just returned from my ortho and at 10 weeks c5-7 fusion is over 60% fused-my doc was amazed to say the least. My strength in left arm is getting better(I can do 5sets of 4-6 pull ups at the end of my regular workout)
The left wrist is still weak but doc said that will come with timek. NO loss of sensation.
Biggest problem are the headaches at night-none during the day- only at night, hopefully they get better with time.

My story is under "Just found out" Irish34. Wanted to write becasue I saw in a reply to someone that you wrote that you are a Deputy Sheriff. I am as well. Was your injury duty related.

Yes, my injury was duty related(assaulted by an I/M while working in-custody. The county is fighting the claim but screw them. I have regained most of my strength and mobility. Returned to surfing and cycling, no more baker to vegas running(our department usually placed in the top 3 teams). No work restrictions and cleared for patrol. I recommend the surgery if the surgeon is competent. Keep me posted and be safe!!!!!!!!!!!!

County is fighting mine as well as Workers Comp. I am going for a Second Opinion this week sometime, hopefully. I'm quite sure surgery is inevitable for me. My disc is actually a bit worse that the herniated disc...plus I also have spinal cord compression. Did you have compression?!?
How long were you out of work after the injury, before surgery? After surgery?
If I may, how did the incident go down? In mine, we had a combative, drunk female who came into the jail. I did a pat-down and blanket escorted from the right. Another Dep was on the left and behind. She began to kick at Dep in the back and he took her down...without my knowledge. In short, I continued to restrain as she was going down and it pulled everything down with it.
Thanks for optimism. This is just really difficult being only 26 years old.
