| Re: For Marge from MI
Marge, thanks for asking! I was gone on vacation (longest one ever-3 weeks) and am just now catching up with mail, etc. I'm having a bad time this past week with pain in the arm again, the tingling back of the head, etc. I still haven't reached the point of going back through the test/surgery mill, but some days...
I also worry that it will now be harder for them to pinpoint some of the damage, and to correct it, as I had to have surgery on my right wrist due to a large and growing ganglion cyst. I had it removed Jan. 22 and now there's more noticeable numbness in my middle finger so I am afraid that nerve was messed with while they were in there.
Hurdy, at 7 weeks out pain isn't uncommon. Is it the same pain you had prior to surgery or new places? It's an important distinction. You had two levels, and I only had one (C6-7), with donor bone. Did they use your own bone or plating, as I had neither.
Since surgery I added occipital headaches/tingling, mid-scapular pain, and a pain behind my right eye. I honestly think my ocular nerve was damaged/pinched as an aftermath of the surgery, as I've had the eye pressure tested several times and everything checks out okay. In addition, my numb fingers stayed numb, and my arm pain is still about at the level it had subsided to prior to surgery. So you see, surgery for me was not an improvement.
Fortunately, I seem to be in the minority.
