Hi Deb, I had C6-7 fused, the NS used a donor bone and my bone marrow,with plateing,you asked if you need to hold your neck still,If you mean prior to surgery, that would depend on the pain level you are at, try not to hurt yourself,I wore a soft collar prior to surgery, because the pain was so great that any movement sent me to hell,after surgery I wore a hard collar for 10 plus weeks,that was on all the time,I am healing well now ,4 months in to it,although certain neck movements are still tender, and sleeping on my side has to be done just right , as far as my neck is concerned,Take care, listen to your body, I wish ya the best,and keep asking questions, no one minds here, we are all in the same boat ,
