Back pain after 1st C5/6 epidural - Spinal Cord Disorders Message Board

I really hope someone can answer this. I have a herniated C5/6 and I went on Dec 15 for my first epidural on my neck. Well the pain in my neck has dropped from a 9 to about a 5 or 6 but, for the past few days I have had extremely bad back pain (about the area wher your back bends) and also soreness and some pain in my shoulder blades. I go back to doc on the 28th, but was wondering if I should call him sooner or is this pain normal following the epidural. The pain in my back is like a dull aching kind of pain and the pain meds he gave me are not working. thanks

I just had my 2nd epidural of my neck and I did notice that my back seems to hurt worse after the epidural.

I also experienced back/shoulder pain after epidurals. Can you tell if the pain is from the injection site or a radiating type of pain? Sometimes it takes a few shots to get relief. I hope your pain resolves after the epidural, mine did not, so I tried cervical facet blocks. I would not recommend these, very painful. Good Luck to you.
