I think that an MRI with contrast will reveal any other problems that might explain your symptoms and how to correct them. At that point the surgeon or your doctor can re evaluate you to see whether the initial impression that you had something that didn't need surgery was correct or that something else is going on. Hang in there, pain is hard to deal with and hopefully , this might give you a more precise answer as to what is going on and how to deal with it.
