Unexplained Fever - Spinal Cord Disorders Message Board

C5 imjury.Patient has had fevers on and off again for more than three weeks. Cultures, scans all come back showing no infection and no clots. Doctors reluctant to call it Central. Anybody have any stories about length of time they had an unexplained fever?

what kind of injury?? Was surgery recently done?? Was a CBC- Blood work done....sed rate, CRP ???

No surgery performed. Injury was a C3 C4 C5 fractures and incomplete injury to spinal cord at C4 to C5 level. The fevers prevented any fusion surgery and later xrays showed some healing so injury site has been left alone.All tests are done and repeated every 4 days or so.

I am lost.... If she has a fever, something is brewing and an infection is almost definetly going on somewhere.

I though spinal cord injury at cervical level could affect body temperature regulation (because feedback mechanism's required for temp regulation, as well as ability to sweat etc. can be affected).
