Tempur-pedic bed - Spinal Cord Disorders Message Board

I bought an adjustable Tempur-pedic bed and pillow in July of 2005. I LOVE that bed!!!!! I noticed when i did research on it that it was one of those love it or hate it kind of situations. (no in between). I would love to know how many of you have one. I have been using the pillow for about 2 yrs now and I love that, too...although it DID take some getting used to. Beleive it or not for about 13 years I slept on a bed wedge with a pillow on top of it, on my left side (due to sinus reasons). Oh my God....my husband took a digital pic of my in that position and several Drs. said it was fine. Well one day I took the pic and I turned it on its side and OYYYYYYYYYY my head was so cranked to the left, no wonder I am a wreck. (between years and years of that AND falling very hard on the ice). Nice of those moron Drs. to tell me its OK to sleep like that. When I showed my current physiciatrist that pic, he about freaked. Hence, now I sleep flat and on a tempur-pedic pillow. Let me know how you all like that bed and pillow.

The wife and I just bought one last week, it is great we both love it.

I am curious as we did not buy the new pillows and the wife says that she is getting heads achs... WE are wondering if it would be better if we got the pillows as well.

I have "Arnold Charia Malformation" at this time and I always have a headache and the ringing of the ears and stuff so I do not notice it I guess.
I am scheduled for fusion of S1-L1 and L4-L5 on Feb. the 12th I cannot wait...

I am also considering getting it done as well as the back problems. Perhps before. I am a grouch and it is starting to really wear on my wife... There is no doubt about that...

Sorry I drifted we both love the bed. At the price one should like it.

Here is something to consider about the pillows. The bed makes you slightly lower than if you were on a regular mattress. (because of the cushiness) so if you are using a normal pillow, your head would be slightly higher than the rest of your body. I found that using a tempur-pedic pillow made my body more straight and easier on the neck. But if you do get the pillows...be forewarned that they need to break in. It will help if you walk on them to help break them in. They actually recommend this.

I was actually going to get one of those when my doctor prescribed a hospital bed for my back. I'm glad I went with the hospital bed. It's helped a lot.

My bed is one of those adjustable ones, which is a big help. I dont know what I would do without that feature. Its alot easier on the neck when watching TV.
