Hello everyone,

I had my first checkup with my surgeon yesterday. He did take 2 xrays of my neck, and says I look great. That is always good news after we have went though so much, as you all know. He wants to co another xray when i am 3 months out.

He thought I was doing so well, (even though I have sore stiff muscles) he said he didn't think I needed to go to to Physical therapy. I am wanting to go to the Y, and do the deep water exercises, and he said that would help alot with the muscle sorness, just not to over do, which I won't.

I had C6/7 fusion with hardware, and a soft collar to wear, but he said I didn't have to wear it all the time. I do wear it to sleep, and when I drive.

I guess we are all coming along slow but sure. I am not sorry I had this surgery, it has helped me allready, and I am sure as times goes by I will get better and better. Maybe I can have a life again.

Well you got some good news and that is fabulous! Those sore muscles....have you tried the big rectangular ELECTRIC heating pad sold for about $12 that has an insert with foam that you wet and slide in so you get tons of moist heat? I bought mine at the pharmacy chain that starts with a W. I would have paid $100 for it! I have tried all those "natural" beads and husks and they dont even come close to this. I lay it on my pillow behind my neck and it also "steams" my shoulders and it has 3 temp. levels

Thanks Julyg for the information on the large heating pad, I will try to find one. I have a small one I am using, and I have to keep moving it to get to all the soreness.

I don't remember reading your posts (Or I forgot). Did you have acdf, and then followed by sore muscles? I would like to hear about your experience.

Doc said I am doing well though, but these sore muscles are certainly keeping from feeling like I would like to. lol.

I use the same heating pad! Its a life saver. Everyone, make sure you all use MOIST HEAT, not dry. All you have to do is just wet the small foam pad and stick it in the heating pad. Voila, nice moist heat.

July---What brand name is that Electric heating pad? There are several at that W. store....There isn't one there for $12....Please help... Preparing now for my upcoming surgery....

Mine is a Sunbeam heating pad that i got at Walgreens.

They shouldnt be hard to find. Any of the big discount stores should have them. I dont think we are allowed to say the names here.
