Update 7 wks post-op ACDF C5-C6

Just had post-op appt today. Xray shows that everything is in place and is healing well. Still need to take it easy, limit driving ,he wants to see me again in 6 wks. May start therapy in a few weeks? I'd like to have some opinions and experiences with PT. My doc doesn't seem to push for it so I was just wondering...I'm a nurse and at this point I can't imagine going back to work, I tire so easily, cont with pain, spasms which he said is normal for awhile, should get better. It just feel like such a SLOW recovery.
So what do you all think??? Thanks!

Re: Update 7 wks post-op ACDF C5-C6

The recovery is slow, no doubt about it, and often boring as heck, too. Try not to get discouraged - look at how far you've come in less than two months, and think how much further along you'll be in another two months. In the grand scheme of things, it's not that much time!

PT should help you with the energy level and hopefully the pain & spasms, too. You'll be starting with baby steps, probably ROM stuff and stretches, but that, too, will progress to better things. For me, I think it was when I was able to start (mild) stregthening exercises that I started to really turn the corner on feeling better.

Hang in there and look forward to better things!
