Neck pain spreading through shoulders - Spinal Cord Disorders Message Board

On Saturday morning, I noticed something, kind of behind my ear but more on the base of my neck, that was like a bruise. When I pushed on it, it hurt like a bruise, but when I looked up, it hurt like down my neck not at all like a bruise. On Sunday and Monday, it started to hurt more. And today, it hurts, when I look up, from my neck to both my shoulders down to my shoulder blades. When I look down, it hurts the same way but also in my chest. When I look left it hurts. When I bend my shoulders back. It's a weird pain. Yesterday it was giving me a stomach ache. Almost like a migraine would. My mom thinks I have a pinched nerve. Anyone know what it might be?

Don't know exactly what it would be, but it's definitely worth checking out with a neurologist or spine specialist. I wouldn't get too worked up yet if these symptoms are new - you could definitely recover from them still, but if it were me, I'd get them checked out sooner rather than later. And don't keep making them hurt to see how much they hurt, either!

I guess it doesn't help when I try to find where it hurts. But I found them during PE when we did stretching. I will keep updated. Thanks!

You may want to check out the Spinal Cord Disorders board - the name should actually be the "neck pain board" but not sure why it's not. Anyway, on that board we talk a lot about cervical spine issues.

I visit both boards as I have both cervical and lumbar problems. Not to panic you, as I have a unique medical history, but my cervical problems started out with what I thought was a pinched nerve. If over the counter medications and a heating pad don't help within a few days I encourage you to see a physician. I had pain that started in my neck and radiated down my arm - and I waited far too long to see a doctor and get an MRI.

Well, thank you very much. The pain has actually gone away, but when I look up I get a strange feeling in between my shoulder blades and on the back of my head. My mom actually has had several surgeries. She has bone spurs (spelling?) in her spine (or something, I'm not sure, I just know it's in that area) and they pinched nerves so her arm was always in pains, and at times she couldn't move her fingers. I was just worried that it might have something to do with her and what she has being genetic. She didn't find hers early, either, so I wanted to make sure I found it if I had it. But thank you so much for your suggestions. I appreciate it alot.
