| missed injury c6/c7
"In January 2004 I was involved in a serious RTA. as a result of the accident I was hospitalised with a serious head laceration. I also complained of severe back/neck pain. I was X-Rayed in the emergency room.
I received hospital treatment for 3 weeks for the head injury, including 3 general anaesthetic operations, but no further treatment for the neck pain.
In March 2004 I returned to my GP complaining of continuing pain. A subsequent X-Ray revealed some sort of damage to my neck.
Further CT and MRI scans revealed a dislocation of C6/C7 - described as a 'facetal injury', along with wedge fracture injuries to T1, T2 and T3
I had surgery on 22nd March 2004 and inter-operatively it was noted that the facet was locked and it was deemed appropraite to stabilise in situ.
I received a bone graft to stabilise the area of injury.
A recent X-Ray has revealed the following (Quote)
'History of previous bony injury C7 T1 T2 and T3. There is minor grade I Anterolisthesis of C6 on C7 present as well as a very slight anterior wedging of C7, in comparison with previous report this is unchanged. Also Ankylosis across the facet jointsd C6/C7 as well as prominent bilateral facet joint degenration of C7/T1. there is also apparent bony growth of the lateral masses of C5, C6 C7 most likely also due to the old injury. The rest of the cervicla vertebraeare normal. Ther is early disc degenerationpresent C6/C7 and C7/T1' (Unquote)
This is a very breif overview of my current situation, I would be very interested in your view and comments
