If you are talking about epidural steroid injections (ESI) then there are people that get some temporary relief from these. they do not make the bone spurs go away, the bone spurs stay in there continually irritating the structures. THe steroids help with inflammation. There are cases where people can deal with their pain this way for a long term basis - it really depends on how bad it is and what your issues are.

I have osteophyte complex in C4-6 and was told due to the stenosis, cortisone could be harmful. Check it out.
