"settling" of plate and screws after fusion

I am two months out of a cervical fusion. I saw my doc yesterday, and he said I had some settling of the screws. He called it "retro-grade" something or other. It was such a complicated term, I couldn't remember it. Does this sound familiar to anyone or has anyone else had this? My doctor said he wasn't too concerned about it, but he is known as being an extremely conservative surgeon, that I don't want him to just blow it off. Any info anyone can share?

Wink Re: "settling" of plate and screws after fusion

Hello, I am sorry, but I do not know these 2 terms. But I did want to let you know tha I will keep you in my prayers. I also have a suggestion or 2...When th Dr. gives me the name of a condition or treatment, I ask him if he would mind writing the name down for you. I just laugh and say that my mind is so forgetful these days, and ask him to write it out. I don't make him wait while I take notes on eerything that he says, but if I have the name of the procedure, medication, or diognosis...then I can come home and look it up. 2, when I get home from an apnt. and realize that I did not understand something or forgot to ask a question, I write down my questions and fax them to the Drs. office and ask if when the Dr. has a free moment, if he would either email or call me with the answers. Or, if you don't have access to a fax machine, call and ask and say you have questions for his nurse. When she gets on the line, she would know names and descriptions of most diognosises and procedures. If she comes to a question that she does not know, ask her if she would ask the Dr. to return your call at his earliest convenance.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Lorie
