recovery time for a level 4 spinal cervical stenosis surgery fusion

My husband had surgery May 13th and has been off work since then. He wears a soft collar thankfully. He goes back to the doctor soon for x-ray and he was wondering how long are people usually off work for this. He is doing great but hasn't had physical therapy yet.

It's really hard to answer this question as recovery varies so much from person to person. I would guess with something this major, he should expect to be off work for another couple of months. He will probably need to spend a few weeks in therapy and it has to be taken into consideration that he hs a physical job.

I hope it goes very well for him.

Actually we have our answer. He is to return Monday and could have returned to work tomorrow but we asked to wait. He isn't even to have physical therapy the doctor said the bones had fused perfectly and he was released. He isn't even scheduled to return for a follow-up. Wow that was fast!

thanks

Your post has been relocated to the proper message board. The back problem board is for those suffering from lumbar spinal problems and the Spinal Cord Disorder Message Board is for those suffering from cervical problems.

I so agree. I don't want him to hurt himself too.
