Hi Lilly - thanks for your kind words. I'm kind of disappointed...I saw a pain specialist last Friday for a consultation and he spent all of 15 minutes with me and was more focused on my fibromyalgia than the Tarlov cysts, even though I told him repeatedly that the FM pain is something I've dealt with for years (at least 15 years) and the back pain in my sacral region is NEW. But he just brushed off the Tarlov cyst issue (as many drs do) and said that they aren't usually symtomatic unless compressing nerves.....WELL DUH....that's what my problem is!!!!
Anyhow, long story short...he's going to start me on Lyrica for my FM even though I'm already on a "cocktail" of other meds already, and I really don't want to have to take more meds, but I'll give it a try. And then on Sept. 5, I'll be getting injections in my lumbar region because I do have arthritis of the facet joints bilaterally and he thinks that will "cure" my pain....we'll see. If it doesn't work, I'm going to demand that he take a look at my MRI and see how big the cysts really are because the radiologist didn't state the size of them, only that they are present.
And yes, the TENS unit helps some.....I wear it for an hour and will usually get about 2 hrs of pain relief. It's just a hassle to have to take it to work and put it on, but after sitting at my computer for several hrs I'll do anything to relieve the pain.
Keep me posted on how you're doing....you're in my thoughts and prayers
Katie
