Punched in the neck - PLEASE reply! - Spinal Cord Disorders Message Board

I am 18 now, but at school at around 13, I got punched in the neck.

Now my neck never clicked before then, or at least I never noticed it.

Since the punch, it clicked when I turned to the right.

Over the years though, it has "developed", so now I can crack it by turning my head quickly either way.
Furthermore, I get this sort of "inverse" crack, where the bottom left of my neck clicks, but feels like it should be clicking the other way.

1) do you think my neck would have clicked had i not got punched
2) i have been to doctors and chiros who can't help, any other advice on how to heal it?

i would demand an mri that way you will be sure nothing is wrong with your neck. it sounds to me like its from being punched id have it checked why havent they recommended an mri yet? keep me posted ok renee'

I would ask for another doctor for a second opinion, maybe an orthopedic doctor. Don't mess around when it comes to something like this. I would demand an MRI to rule out anything that may affect you later.

Just saw another doctor.
Despite my best efforts trying to persuade him there was something wrong, he seemed to think it was "natural" and "normal", and that a lot of people have clicking necks.

Did loads of stretches and because I could do them, told me I was fine

I don't think a clicking neck would be considered normal. If anything, it sounds like your atlas might have gotten misalligned. You should definitely try looking up upper cervical chiro.
