shoulder pain/pain or numb tingling hands, fingers
My first time in a chat room.
Woke up week ago with very painful hands especially when closing them. Feet too but not as bad. Have had terrible shoulder pain about 30 years. Also other joint pains (knees) most of life. Have had numbness and tingling in arms hands fingers very much for the last yr. Went to Chiropractor for about a yr. and it was a big relief. Should I go back for this? I want to be done with it, not have to continue therapy for my lifetime. Could it be a disease? Drs never find anything wrong. Husband says not arthritis. I now think its nerve problem. Thanks, KP

Hi there, Lots of great & knowledgable people here. First have you had any tests such as an MRI or CT? With the tingling & numbness it does sound like there may be nerve involvment. Also if indeed you were to have athrititis that can include the spine or what may be referred to as DDD, which can cause problems such as yours. We are not doctors of course, just people who experiance some of the same & have learned to listen to our bodies.
I have the same problem as do others here & many have found problems existing with the cervical disks. Its painful, scary & frustrating. I would not go to a chiro to be on the safe side & see a doctor with those symptoms. Highly unusaul for any doctor to ignore tingling & numbness. No doctor should. Also these things can progress to become chronic or the symptoms & pain can become worse if let go, not trying to scare you but often when people ache for so many yrs. complaints or not heard or taken as serious as they should be. Your better off to get it checked out sooner then later. Im sure there are others that will chime in & I wish you the best of luck. Sammy

Hi there kmpadgett...is your husband a doctor? How does he know you don't have arthritis? You can't see arthritis so unless he has x-ray eyes like superman, how does he know?
Your hands sound exactly like you have a bad case of carpal tunnel syndrome in your hands. You couldn't have described it better. and the shoulder pain....sounds like it might be the AC joints. Try pressing on the area where your bra strap goes over your shoulder....dos that hurt? It's one of the most common sites of arthritis in the body....that and the knees.
Go see your doctor and ask about seeing an arthritis specialist. There are tons of treatments out there that will help or even surgery to totally relieve the pain. I've had the surgery for carpal tunnel and you wake up with the pain and numbness gone. I've had surgery for the arthritis in both the shoulder AC joints and it is so nice to have that pain gone for good. And knees...mine are metal and plastic and wonderful.
Stop guessing and see an arthritis doc.....not a chiropractor...that is not their specialty. They treat spines and it could be your spine but I've had those same pains and spine problems and they are different. You sound just like me....and it's probably arthritis. And it's treatable and sometimes fixable if you seek it out.
