narrowing of the left nerual foramen at the L2-3, L3-4, L4-5

We were in a rather serious car accident and since then I am having numbness in my left foot especially when lying down. Can this numbness be caused by the narrowing of the left neural foramen at the L2-3, L3-4, and L4-5, and could the narrowing be caused by the accident? I had an MRI performed three years ago and there was no mention at all of the narrowing of the left neural foramen. In the accident (October 2009) I had bilateral fractured ribs on my left side and a fractured sternum.
