Multiple Back Problems
Hello everyone, I am new to this site. I have a pretty screwed up back and have never had any accidents or anything. I am having my first surgery on my thoracic spine in 1 week (on Tues, March 2) and am a little nervous. I just figured I would post all of my back problems and see if anyone else had these problems w/out having injury and what they did and if it helped. Thanks for listening!
arthritis, degeneration starting in C2-C3 through C5-C6.
T9-10 small central disc herniation (causing mass effect on the thecal sac), T10-11 large broad-based right paracentral disc herniation (significant mass effect on the spinal cord).
T8 small 6.5mm well-defined lesion w/in the vertebral body on the right, smaller lesion measuring less than 2mm also. (these may represent small enchondromas or atypical hemangiomas).
T11-12 & T12-L1 small schmoral's nodes
Spondyloses & Degenerative Disc Disease within L4-5 & L5-S1
L4-5 small central disc herniation
L5-S1 large herniation, degenerated intervertebral disc with disc space narrowing. Diffuse disc osteophyte complex. Bilateral neuroforaminal narrowing.
The surgery I am having on Tuesday is on T10-11. My surgeon said he would like to try a less evasive form of surgery first before he fuses my spine together to see if it will work. It is called laminectomy/discectomy. Has anyone had any luck with this surgery on their thoracic spine before? I always find a lot of info about lumbar surgery online but rarely things about the thoracic spine.
Any information is appreciated.
