L5-S1 Fusion Surgery

I'm planning to schedule an L5-S1 fusion in the near future but I'm really scared. All I ever see are the bad outcomes. Has anyone had a good outcome? Also, how bad is the recovery? It sounds like I won't be able to do anything. Help!

Maggie, I live in NW England and had this surgery in mid July. I found the proceedure to be painless and the recovery period short ( I have already started back to work but only part time at the moment )I have read some of the comments where surgery has not gone well or people continue with pain. It's a fact of life, bad news travel faster than good. I have no pain.
Clearly I have been lucky, but I am sure my experience is not exclusive to me. Good luck with your operation. Think positive it will help your recovery.
