Starting to really worry (swelling and edema of spinal cord)
My spinal cord is being flattened and has edema and I was diagnosed with Myelopathy. I was supposed to have a 2 level ACDF a couple weeks ago but abnormal test results for my heart put a stop to that. Anyway for the past month or so I wake up with what feels like "dead" legs and "dead" arms and usually the feeling slowly goes away. Well for the past 2 days my arms and legs have been feeling like they aren't mine all day long. I still have feeling and can use them but they just don't feel right at all. All the surgeons I've seen said I need to have surgery ASAP if any of the problems I'm having will be reversed. I'm starting to really worry that it may be to late and the only thing surgery is going to do is to keep things from getting any worse.
Anyway I'm just wondering if any one has ever had swelling and edema of spinal cord and have had surgery? Anyone with severe weakness ever get it back after surgery?
MTA: surgery is Friday so whatever will be will be. Just glad to finally be getting something done!

Re: Starting to really worry (swelling and edema of spinal cord)
I am new here and first off, I would like to wish you luck with your surgery and send prayers your way. I also have edema on my spinal cord and was wondering about it. I haven't been able to find much information on it and haven't been able to talk to a Neurologist or Neurosurgeon yet. However, I am going to see one tomorrow and have a nerve conduction study done. So maybe I will get a few answers then?
