| Osteophyte indenting thecal sac L5 S1
Dear Friends,
I have had:
Discectomy Surgery in 2004 at L5/S1
Discectomy Surgery in 2011 at L4/L5
Chronic pain both lumbar back pain and sciatic pain radiating down both legs etc.
On increased physical activity I have regular and intense sciatic flare ups. An MRI Scan 15/01/13 has diagnosed a change in the L5/S1 disc since 2004 surgery with a sharp osteophyte (bone formation) indenting on the spinal canal (thecal sac).
My question is can this be the cause of inflammation and pain flare ups with increased activity.
My scan of L5/S1 can be viewed at

Iam seeking opinion on this. It feels fully consistent with my symptoms.
Many thanks
Phil
