Post Neurostimulator? any success stories?

Having trial implant on 5/14 for mainly back pain with right leg pain also. Just the leg pain isn't as bad as the back. Been searching the web and looks like very few have had a great deal of success with reducing back pain although very good results for leg pain.
Anyone have success with back pain with the stimulator?

thanks.

Hi Wbaker, you may want to try the HB back problems board... not too many of us have the back issues. BelleNZ does, but you need to catch her and she's probably on that board too! Sorry I could not be of more help.

thanks debbie2, I have it posted on both boards. Wasn't getting response on back board and someone suggested this one, so get suggestions both ways. Just have to edit it every few days I guess to bring back to top of page so it doesn't get lost if no response.

Thanks.

Hi,

I have had a stimulator for 5 years. Like you mentioned, I find it gives me a lot of relief for nerve damage causing leg pain, but does not give too much relief from failed back surgery. I would try the trial as it is usually a good indication of how the implant will work. Right now mine is broken because of a fall that I had in Dec. Didn't know that they could break. I have an ANS and they do not have replacement parts. If I can, I will have it replaced with a Medtronics because they are better apt to be able to fix a broken one (leads are broken). Good luck with the trial.

EMC,

Looks like I am getting the trial with a Medtronic as that is the brochure I was given to read up on.

I hope and pray it will be the answer I am looking for. Just don't have much confidence these days, especially since its my last hope.

Hi,

I glad tthat your doctor uses the Medtronics stimulator. Doesn't make sense to use a product that can't be fixed if there is a problem. I know what you mean about the stim being your last hope. My new PM doctor is supposed to be the best in the area for replacing stims and he has only given me a 50/50 chance of getting new leads in because of scar tissue. If he can't get them in I guess that I am looking at a morphine pump. I really don't want to go that route. I hope the best foy you. I was reading through the back pain thread and saw all your posts there. Believe me, I know what you are going through. Good luck with the trial.

Susan
