Post got surgical report

Hi ya'll........did you know its HOT HOT HOT???? (lol)

Well I just got a copy of my surgical report and boy oh boy did I ever get a surprise. Not only do I find that as expected he did a C5/6 diskectomy, BUT he also did a "partial corpectomy" on C6 in order to get to the migrating piece of disk fragment that had floated on down into the foramen space of C6. OMG!!!! Can I say that again please?? OMG!!! He took half of my disk away and never said not one word about it!!! I was surprised to say the least. Then reading on more I find that he "cut the posterior longitudinal ligament. No darn wonder my head feels like its gonna fall off. He cut my wobble preventer. I am violated I tell ya, just violated!!! (just kidding). This really clarifys how come the back of my neck STILL feels like someone is hitting me with a sledgehammer. I had NO idea he was gonna have to do the corpectomy, and according to these notes here, neither did he. And to think that I have NO, ZIP, ZERO, NADA hardware. Its said the size of the allograph (sp?) was 13mm, now I dont know and you mechanical guys can correct me if I am wrong, but to me that seems kinda big. Suppose its cuz of the disk as well as the vertibra he took out? Anyway, just thought I would share. I am more busted up then I thought I was. Oh, but I must remember tho, according to my NS who apparantly thinks he is "super surgeon", I am gonna be good as new within 6 weeks. Sounds to me like I gotta do one heck of alot of bone growing and fusion in 6 weeks for that to happen. We shall see.......me I have to remain ever..........

the skeptic,

Lisa

Question

Ladyblue,
Who was your surgeon? When you said he thinks he's super surgeon I thought we were using the same guy! lol I guess they should have alot of confidence in their ability.

I hope to have my records next week.I'm not sure I want to know what he did to me. I still feel most of it, I don't have to read it.(jk) We all should have a copy of your records,( one of many things this wonderful board has taught me).

I can't wait till Monday so I can call Mr.Mickel. Just the thought of his help is exciting to me. I don't want to talk to WC ever again. I'll tell you what bothers me alot ladyblue, when someone hears WC,they look at you like yep, that guys not hurt, he's just faking.I had a guy, that I work with come up to me and say, your milking it for all it's worth aren't you? If he knew how stupid that statement was! AAAWWW... sure buddy....I'm walking like this, moving like this, turning like this and feeling like this because I don't have anything better to do at the present time, plus I never had my throat cut and I wanted to see what it felt like! LOL.. Some people...

I hope your feeling some better ladyblue. It's like small baby steps but slowly you'll see improvement.

Harvey

Firefighter,

Man we should talk. I am in the exact same boat as you. People I work with, (some of em) also think I am faking this too. Yeah, ok, I woke up one day and decided to go see Jack the Ripper just for kicks and a vacation. WHATEVER.....

My husband works for union pacific, and he has the name of a NS who takes care of railroaders who have problems like we have and to his knowledge, (thru talking to co-workers) this guy is supposedly honest and truly very very good and he is there in LR. When I fire my NS on my one and only follow up visit at 6 weeks I am going to see about getting him. When I get his name (having a brain cramp) I will pass it on to you. Did I mention that with WC you are allowed to change doctors only ONE time?

This journey we find ourselves on at this juncture of our lives is quite interesting isnt it? I never ever expected to find myself here AT ALL. My mom has scoliosis real bad and I watched her suffer thru many back surgeries and always swore it would never be me under a knife for any kind of spine surgery. Boy oh boy was I wrong. Looks like not only did I get the surgery but OH BOY DID I get the surgery and probably have more to look forward to on down the line.

Keep the faith Harvey and dont take what garbage WC and ignorant co workers have to say too personally. (I need to heed my own advice). Good luck with Mr. Mikel, I am sure you will be pleased.

OH, Harvey I forget to mention, once you have an attorney, you never have to speak to w/c comp again. Its against the rules. Also, the attorney acts as a mediator between you and your employer if they give you a hard time.

ladyblue,
Thanks, My captain and chief have been great to me. I couldn't ask to be treated better. My captain even drove me to the doctors( in another town ) last week.
Chief has told me I should retire out if I'm not going to be 100%, He doesn't want me to get hurt or re-injure my neck..... I like the way he thinks because I don't either! lol

Have a great day and I'll be yelling soon.
