post op visit - Spinal Cord Disorders Message Board

I have gotten back in the middle of tropical storm bill..lol Everything is healing well and I can start taking the brace off some and doing my exercises to strengthen neck muscles. He told me I could go to PT or he could show them to me. I live in the boonies so the last option was the obvious choice.
I Can Drive....you all do not know how independant I am and asking people for favors did not set well with me at all.
I thank everyone for thier support I really do not think I would not have made it through this without you guys.

I'm glad your feeling better and we all understand how wonderful it is when you become independent after your surgery.

Be careful driving......I couldn't turn my head and I knew I was going to have a accident but I was lucky and didn't run over anyone.

Again, it's great to see your doing well.

Congrats on being able to drive. I like you am very independent and hate asking for assistance. My surgeon would not let me take the brace off for six weeks so I could not drive for 6 weeks.

Be very careful driving - I find my hardest spot for driving is when you are merging with traffic. I just can not seem to turn far enough to see what is coming. Of course coming to work I have that in two spots but have not crashed yet.

As far as the PT - being that you are far out I would also go with the doctor showing the exercises. But, if you have any doubt of that working try to get a few PT visits for guidance from an expert. I have done PT before and after surgery and for both of them I was given completely different exercises. I am now going again (to a different therapist) and getting even more exercises.

Good luck with your continued recovery and remember still take it easy - 2 weeks out of surgery is nothing.
