misty,
Wow! I'm sure there must be guidelines about what size plate goes where, and only a good lawyer will be able to sort that out. I don't know if you'd have to keep the plate after it comes out, or just get a statement from the doc... lots of things would have to be considered. Also, I'm sure they can determine from your x-rays just how big the plate is. After all, everything is relative.

But how was it determined that the plate is too long for your neck? Does it lap over vertebrae that were not supposed to be fused? What did this guy say? I'm sure you should go get another opinion from another doc. Why don't you consider coming to Orlando? Obviously it's your decision, but I really think you should have at least two, completely independent oopinions that this plate is too long. Don't have the myelogram until you get confirmation on what it is and what should be done.

Those are my suggestions, misty... It's tough to make good decisions when you are in so much pain. Take care...

hi Winged- i went to go see Hynes in melbourne, he is one of the best in the area here. the very first thing out of his mouth was why did the other n/s do that with the plates? they seem to over lap not fused areas and are too big for my neck almost reaching into where the neck comes together with the shoulder, well this is what he said and he said that he needs to do a mylogram to figure out once and for all what is going on with my back. eveidently he is cleaning up my n/s work form other patients who are coming to him now since the n/s quit the practice. i am not hearing good things about the other person who quit the practice. i believe this is why i am having contiuned pain or at least part of the reason why. i think that if i have the mylogram it will put to bed some of my questions as to what exactly is wrong with my back....either way, understand that unless the carlessness was so overt in my treatment form the first doc, i would not be able to sue.

Cool

Oh, that's right. Don't they have to find rusty screwdrivers in there to be able to prove overt carelessness?
