Alright, so I desperately need some advice...my family's falling apart. Here's the story.
We have been considering adopting a dog for a long while. My mother has always been against it, but she finally caved and we went searching for one. While at a shelter, we found a dog that all four of us (me, my father, mother, and brother) all liked. Unfortunately, this dog was a 5-month-old puppy, and wasn't housebroken. However, we overlooked everything and adopted him, following the procedure for a new puppy. The first couple days were great, a couple messes in the house here or there, but nothing else. Until today...this morning, my dad woke up and went to the dog's crate to let him out. When he peeked in, the cage was covered with poop and so was the dog. My dad has a very short temper, so he was furious. He took the dog out (after cleaning the whole cage) and stood out there for a half hour, without the dog even relieving himself. My mother was talking about returning the dog, and I, loving the dog and fearing for his leave, tried everything in my power to perfect him so my parents wouldn't take him back. My mother noticed this, and had a talk with me out of the house about how all the members of the family just need to relax, for we're getting stressed out. I am currently sick with a cold/sore throat/ear infection, so I haven't been well enough to take the dog out. My dad has to, even though his back is sore. Anyway, the pain was lifted from my heart until we got home. My father and brother returned to the house, and while my mother said everything would be fine, my father said the complete opposite. He said that my brother didn't even want to go home. So my mother, being an excessive worrier, eventually gets so stressed about talking about the dog and breaks down and cries. She just can't take it anymore, everyone's stressed out, I'm both angry and depressed, and everything's just falling apart.
I understand we have a puppy, and it has certain sacrifices. And I don't ever want to give him away...
