Is there any anti anxiety meds that are safe to drink alcohol on?

Im not an alcohloic or anything i drink usually once a week or so with friends at bars and clubs and i love the night life...
Drinking alcohol actually helps with my anxiety even the next day also. I dont want to drink 24-7 so i wanna take an anti anxiety med ..Which one should i take? I believe my anxiety also turned into a little bit of obsessive compulsive disorder.. My doc prescribed me zoloft but i really dont wanna deal with the sexual side effects and acne also as a side effect.. Since i just got off accutane for acne. And i heard there is fatigue as a side effect ...Pluse its basically used for depression right?
I also tried effexor but i got sexual side effects after the first few days of starting it and got a bad headache on it as well.
Is there just an anxiety med that wont make me fatigue ,aggravate my skin, give me sexual side effects and is safe to drink alcohol while taking?

Also what does anyone feel about taking zoloft and effexor for anxiety?

One of my main symptoms is that im constantly worrying about something...mainly my face but if that was fixed it would be something else im sure. Its like my brain just cant relax......

Is this anxiety?
sorry for writin a book <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wink.gif">

You can't think that because it says you could have those side effects that it automaticly means your going to get everyone of them. You may get a few of them, but if they are bothersome, you can switch.Don't not take them for fear of the side effects. Most side effects I have gotten on any meds I have been on usually disipate as my body gets used to the drug, not all mind you,but I can live with a little dry mouth and headaches better than the anxiety!Zoloft isn't only for depression,it does help anxiety and other disorders. There is no medicine that is free from side effects, but everyone reacts differently to every drug.Talk to your dr about these concerns,or even a pharmasist, they'll be able to tell you more! And in my opinion, yes that is anxiety!!Good luck!Kristi

Re: Is there any anti anxiety meds that are safe to drink alcohol on?

I've been taking some herbal remedies for my anxiety for years now. Some have worked better than others obviously, but I also wanted to enjoy cocktails every now & then. I was taking Kava & St Johns Wort but your not supposed to drink while on Kava & it wasn't working much for me anyway. But what I did find that works well is Skullcap. I've been taking it for about 4 months now & it has no side effects & from all I've read about it,you can drink while taking it. I do, & have had no problems. Hope this helps!
