Shaking sensation when i wake up?

Hello everyone,
My newest anxiety symptom scares me, just when i thought things could not possibly get any worse!! At night i will fall asleep usually fine, because i'm exhausted. When i wake up in the morning i feel like a live wire. It's hard to explain it- i feel like my body is shaking, mostly in my chest, when i recognize this shaking it goes away as i proceed to get up and go to the shower. Also when i try to take a nap once in a while i get up and feel shakey and out of it. I hate this feeling!! I think it has a lot to do with muscle tension.......i have a ton of that. I can't ever relax, my nerves are totally out of whack! Anyone else get this, or am i the most anxiety ridden person in the world???

Re: Shaking sensation when i wake up?

Hi hon,

I get this too usually when i wake up i start to get tingly all over and then the shaking starts it sucks because i still think i am dying but i have been to the doctor twice and he said i was perfectly healthy, its just stress can manifest itself in many different ways especially the things you fear the most. Mine would be a heart attack so when i get anxious my chest hurts and my left arm hurts and my jaw starts to hurt. but like i said stress stress stress. try to calm yourself down and go with the flow.

Re: Shaking sensation when i wake up?

I had similar feelings. I explained to my p-doc that I would go to sleep feeling relaxed and wake up feeling that way. I kind of explained it as the feeling right after you lift weights or do a heavy workout and your muscles are shakey and weak.He knew exactly what I was talking about and said it has to do with anxiety and the fact that when you are asleep your body doesn't flush the chemicals(lactic acid, etc.) out of your muscles as efficiently as it does when you're active, hence the wearing-off after you move about for awhile. It made sense to me. He said your conscious and sub-consious minds are two different things so even if you don't feel that anxious during the day your mind may be sorting things out while sleeping. I guess it's harmless but it sucked for me cause I used to enjoy lying in bed with my wife in the morning but I had to get up and move around as soon as I woke up. It subsided somewhat in time.Just one of the many wonderful physical side -effects of anxiety! Hope this helps.

j***14,

man, i know that feeling. it's the worst. it can be a terrible way to start the day. i tell myself though that this doesn't have to mean a bad afternoon or evening. i just grin and try to get through it.

good luck!

Re: Shaking sensation when i wake up?

I know exactly what you mean. It makes me feel better to hear other people experience the same thing. It started happening only in the morning, then that was all I could think about & it happened all day. When I stopped thinking about it ALL THE TIME it honestly subsided. I still feel it sometimes, but I try not to get upset about it & then it goes away.
