Constant deterioration in health condition post stroke

Hi All,

I am describing here the condition of my mother who is a stroke patient and is 66 years old. She had a stroke in Jan 2015. It was a Left MCA Infarct. She did not get proper treatment on time and as a result 70% of her left side brain is damaged (as stated by the doctors after doing an MRI). She developed right side weakness along with speech impairment. However she recovered marvelously and was able to walk and use the right side of her body within 2 months. She had become completely independent to do all her daily chores. She even started writing. However speech was still a problem.

However in March 2016, she started showing some signs of deterioration. She started dragging her right leg. MRI did not reveal any new infarcts. Doctors considered the deterioration due to depression but both medicines or psychiatric sessions did not help. This continued till June. Due to this dragging of her leg, she tripped and fell in June 2016 and is bed ridden ever since. She is unable to do anything, not even able to turn while sleeping.

Her condition worsened further and she developed difficulties swallowing food and her cognitive ability reduced down almost to zero. As a result, in Jan 2017, doctor suggested getting a PEG tube installed. She is now on supplements (Primarily Fresubin and Kabi Pro Whey Protein). After being on supplements, her cognitive skills have improved a bit but not that much. She sleeps like 22-23 hours in a day.

What can I do to try and improve her condition as it is really heart breaking seeing her deteriorate like this? I will be really thankful for any suggestions.
