Thumbs up Stroke at 55 and have lots of questions

Hello and thanks for looking
I'm Ed 55 live in so/cal am an Electrical contractor, married with 3 kids very out
going love working with my hands, can make or fix just about anything, I have
too many hobbies from collecting hot wheels, quads, jet skis to drive a super
comp dragster I have always been a go getter and then on day 11-16-16 my
life changes forever .

I had a Hemorrhagic Stroke on the left side,(hope that right) fell off a ladder
about 8-9 fell and landed on my head and was out for abut 30-45 secs that's
it and the paramedics were there in less than 5 min. I was taken to UCI in
Orange where I was told I had broken 6 ribs and lacerated my right lung
along with a stroke, they could not tell me if the stroke came first or a
result of my fall. I spent 2 weeks in ICU and was transferred to rehab for
the next 4 weeks. Everything kinda comes and goes in that 2
weeks I do remember seeing
friends and family but don't recall much. where I do start remembering is on
12-4-16 and I was able to answer technical questions for customers.
I do remember my side hurting from from the broken ribs, my right arm was
kinda lazy and I could not walk and my eve sight was kinda foggy.
I remember rehab being ok but had problems with my sodium and low blood
pressure, my walking was slow but that's about it.

I left on 12-27-16 and went to CNS in Bakersfield for better help, I have to
say CNS sucks but they did get me walking again but would never go there
again. My OT, ED, Cognitive is much better I would say about 85-90 % and
my walking is at 80% , I cant run yet but walk every day with work. I
stayed till 2-3-17

Now my question will the foggyness / dizzyness ever go away, If I really
concentrate it makes me tired but if I try and talk to my wife or son and tell
them how I feel or where it hurts they get mad at me for leaving and that
flat out wipes me out, they just don't understand they think i'm out of shape
and need to get to work or more PT ,
I think PT helped but I don't have the energy level I once had , I have been
to the Dr 4-5 times and the two of them have told me my body is healing
and it will get better anywhere from 1-2 years from the stroke ????????????

I cant stand this and its driving me crazy, my eye sight is doing better and I
have a few pains in my lower back and on my right side but that's the side
my stroke is on ??????

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated
Ed

SOrry for your situation. It can take a year or more to fully recover from a stroke. I would pay attention to what your doctor says and tell your family to talk to your doctor if they have questions!

Re: Stroke at 55 and hane lots of questions

Thanks for the response
I wish things were that easy but there far from that
My wife and son give me little to no support, I'm doing it on my own with the help of my oldest daughter but she is 500 miles away and it kills me
My wife thought all I needed was to go to PT and work to get my stamina back, boy is she lost on this one. I keep trying to tell her there are no guarantees and I feel like a used up piece of meat with little to no other support.
what do I do ????????????????????????????????
That's why I'm on this board
HELP

I don't understand what you mean by your wife gets mad at you for leaving? Have you left the home? Left her? And I suggest making a doctor's appointment and taking her and your son with you so your doctors can explain what is going on, what the treatment is and what the expectations are. They are avoiding facing the facts and that is normal. They want to think it will all go away and return to normal.Your doctors may be able to help then gain acceptance.

No I have not left or anything like that, just a brain fart as I did not catch that.
My wife has gone to 2 of the Dr appointments but she has not gotten it, both of my doctors say PT can help but what you need is time healing and lots of support. I do like the idea of my son coming with me and hearing from the Dr himself.

Record the next appointment on your phone and play it for her when she goes off the rails!

Re: Stroke at 55 and have lots of questions

Have your doctor call your wife and talk directly and only to her. You need to take this bull by the horns and be proactive, not reactive.

Thanks for your thoughts but dont think this will help her in any way, just hope she sees this takes time and patience.
