Hi everyone,
My name is becky and I am 22 years old. I had a brainstem/cerebellum stroke on 12/24/03. Unfortunately, nobody believed that that is what was happening so I did not get diagnosed until about three weeks later. How stupid is that? Needless to say, therapy is going terrible. Balance is terrible in all positions. Left hand was affected and won't hold on to things to well. My legs were the most affected which really aggrivates me since I had been a dancer, diver, actress, going to nursing school, working as a nurses assistant. You name it, I was probably doing it. At the moment I can stand up for about five minutes but the whole time my legs shake violently. Dr says that it is due to increased tone. But this makes it very difficult to even stand let alone try to take steps. Therefore, I am still in a wheelchair

. Thankfully my speech wasn't really affected since all that I am able to do from before the stroke is sing. this is the only thing that keeps my spirits up and pressing forward. There are so many days that I just want to curl up vanish from the cruel world that i live in. Thanks for having sights like this. It really helps to get your feelings out to people who can't yell at you for your feelings.
Becky
