| Re: could this have been a stroke?
Actually it does sound very much like what my late husband described, though he was about 60 at the time, and his was obviously milder. He was on a business flight, got sick, vomited, and had a temporary mild partial paralysis, as he explained it. They had to transfer him between planes in a wheelchair. When he got to his destination, he had to be helped to his motel room. I don't know if anyone suggested the possibility of a stroke, but he didn't know anything about it, and he never went to a doctor. By the next day, he had recovered sufficiently to go to the meeting. It wasn't until years later when he had an MRI for other reasons that we learned that there was evidence of an old mild stroke. In thinking back, we reached the conclusion that the above experience was when it must have happened.
But as the others have said, your friend is getting medical attention, and whether it was a stroke or something else, it sounds like they are on the way to determining the cause of the problems.
