I am 25 years old, non smoker, not overweight..do take Biirth Control due to having polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I had a baby girl 9 months ago.
I was diagnosed with panic/anxiety disorder 4 years ago.
Been under a lot of stress lately...After jsut finding out some terrible things that my father has done, I was driving home and felt a knot type feeling in my upper chest, then my face felt a little tingly and my arm ...my arm also got a heavy feeling. I started to panic then calmed myself down, made it home ..I could walk, talk and see fine. My arm just felt a little funny still. I am perfectly fine today, no lingering symptoms..
I have also had this happen about 3 months ago and went to the ER...They did NOT check my heart or anything, but said I was fine. I was getting dizzy spells upon standing with rapid heart rate, but since getting my horomones fixed that has went away.
In the past I have had EKGs and blood work, they say I am just fine, just a lot of anxiety/depression.
Does any of this sound like it could of been a stroke? if not I just want to stop worrying about it!
I'm not really sure myself...not sure if a stroke or TIA would only affect your face and arm, what about your leg? and you had no trouble with language?
maybe look into TIA's (transient ischemic attacks), sometimes called "mini strokes", because i don't know enough about the symptoms they cause...
when I had my stroke, i couldn't even LIFT my arm, it was like the whole side of my body was dead...I had to reach over with the other arm and lift it up! I thought I was thinking clearly, but I really wasn't...and thought I was speaking clearly, but DEFINATLY wasn't... I couldn't walk initially...and later when I did, I was walking sideways, and falling over, I couldnt' walk without assistence....
you mentioned your heart not being checked...but strokes don't necessarily have any relation to your "heart" per se (mine did, because they found a hole in my heart, which is where the clot got thru) But an MRI of your brain could verify if you've had some kind of brain injury from a stroke or TIA (doctors usually do a CT scan first.... in my experience...they suck... I had 2, one normal, and one with contrast, and neither showed my stroke, just FYI)
I was having a problem such as you discribed. Tingling in hand, I had loss of grip power and was finding myself very clumsy ie dropping things..Plus always seemed to be aware that my arm was there. Not in pain but heavy as you said. It turned out I had a pinched nerve in my neck and once that was relieved the problem went away and has been gone since. The Doctor checked this by pushing on the top of my head and asked me the effect it had on my arm. I was amazed that it did effect my arm on the one side.
Hope that helps. BUT you do need to discuss it with your doctor.
