| Is it a TIA??
10 days ago I had what the doctors think is a TIA. Left leg, left torso were paralyzed, left arm very weak for 60-90 seconds. I was sitting on the edge of the tub getting ready for a bath and slumped into the tub when it happened. I was there for 1-2 mintues then was able to get out with my right side and onto my bed. 15 mintues later symptoms were nearly gone. I got up and was walking fine, weak but fine. Then same symptoms came back again for 60-90 seconds but to a greater degree. I was on the couch at the time so purposly slid to the floor to lie flat. 1 hour after the first started I was 100%. No pain ever with the events, or since. No headache, no dizziness, no blurred vision, nothing. I didn't know about TIA's and never imagined at 39 I could have a stroke. Thought it was a low blood sugar thing so didnt go to the doctor until the next day. (I know - I should have called 911) Doctor immediately hospitalized me. The MRI, CAT Scan, Cardiac and Brain Ultrasounds, EKG, EEG, Cholesterol, Blood Sugar, Salt, and a couple of other tests I forget the names of are all normal. Blood Pressure however was thru the roof. 200+/100+. 5-6 years since I had been sick and to a doctor so had no idea. Im now on BP meds and asprin and am monitoring things with docs. In the research I have been doing on TIA I'm hearing lots of people say they have residual symptoms. I never had/have any pain/discomfort associated with the incident. No headaches, no bloody noses, no dizzyness...I feel 100%, except scared about whats going on. Im wondering if this really was a Stroke TIA or if it was something else. Im wondering if it could have been BP related or stress related. Any thoughts from anyone else?
