| Re: I am so new
Hi,
You didn't say which side was affected, but it sounds like you were pretty fortunate it was not severe. I'm glad you're doing well.
I had my stroke 4 years ago at age 55. It affected my right leg, arm, hand and fingers, totally paralyzed. To make matters worse, the right side is my dominant side. I was told I would eventually walk with a cane but never have any function in the right arm, hand or fingers. I told the doctors that wasn't an option for me. Well, I proved them wrong.
Four years later, I am only walking outdoors with a slim cane, nothing indoors. I am typing this note using boths arms, hands and fingers. I even started driving again about 5 months ago. But let me tell you, it took alot of hard work, perseverence, a strong will and alot of exercises.
I never had the funny sensations that you described so I can't speak to that. As far as sleeping, it may have to do with your medications, although alot of people say it comes from the stroke. I never had that problem.
All in all, I think you should do extremely well with what you have described.
Hope this helps some!
A fellow survivor.
