Can carotid doppler ultrasound test cause stroke?

The ultrasound wave is high in energy. In a carotid ultrasound doppler test, the technician presses a sensor against the neck area and moves it along the neck to pick up the signal. Considering how close the carotid artery is to the neck surface, can such a test cause the unstable plaque to erupt?

Also, does the technician adjust the ultrasound intensity based on the patient's body weight? How often should a patient take such a test?
