well.......this is a bit tough to describe...basically it means to remove completely from recognition or memory, erase out of memory. that is efface.
"oh, efface the bad memories of those bad times in high school" per say as in putting it into a sentence
that's as much as i got from the dictionary, it's a bit of a strange word and i don't hear people using it much in a daily conversation
