i had written previously to all of you great survivors, warriors...afflicted by a single moment in time, that hung in silence for days, before you know it, things that were assumed on that possible same day, was taken away in the middle of a hot moment, a moment in a brain attack. darn, why didn't the brain tell ya "hey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! get to the e.r. right know or you'll regret it!"
well, it does not happen that way, from what i went thru with my wonderful father. i sold HIS van today, yet a year ago, a blink of an eye to me, he was driving that van, shopping, going out to a few lunches with friends, only to see the van driven off, by a greatful family with 2 kids. his new vehicle is a power chair.
i just want to tell ya all to keep going, whichever way you can find, the smallest things matter alot. i can tell stories, being his daughter, and only caretaker that would maybe? make you laugh.
i bring dad home 2x a week, his new powerchair got stuck between the patio and grass, we were stuck, as in a snow bound road.....i could not move it, the front wheelers went up and the basic wheels were not touching the ground.....also, hornets kept flying around us as i was ready to call a tow truck to get us out of this mess,, he was embarassed as hell, no nosy neighbors showed up, i finanlly picked up the front "casters" on the powerchair and the real tires hit the grass with no grace at all, tread marks everywhere, he put it in high gear and almost wrecked going full speed down a curb at the end of yard! whoa!
it's been a wild ride on all sides of the issue with me, i'm not well with transferring either.
one day at the hospital, i tried to get my father from wheelchair to bed, his left side is very much gone at this time (7 months post stroke), i got him to stand for one hot moment, he started to tilt towards the bed, and i went with him...i lost my momentum, as he did his...and we were stuck again...
his left arm feels alot of pain, yet he cannot use it, i tried to protect that arm from going into a bad and painful position.
well, enough, i just want to give you all a big "hey"......keep on going, there certainly is not enough spoken in the media about "post stroke warriors"
i believe it is all about between insects and angels...you have them both, yet, go for the angels.
