Hi Mindpeace:
Your brother needs to be in a skilled nursing facility that will give him agressive therapy. My husband had a massive stroke 2 yrs. ago and went from the hospital to this type of facility and they worked wonders with him. The only thing wrong with him now is his speech. He can feed himself, dress himself, bathe himself and the only thing I do is make sure he takes his meds. at the right time every day.
Before all of his therapy, he had to have a feeding tube inserted because he couldn't swallow.............now he eats anything he wants. Please check into this and your sister is doing the right thing by applying for medicaid.............it should cover this type of facility. My husband was 68 and had medicare.......which paid for it........but medicaid should pay. Please stay in touch and let us know how things are going.
