Hi all,
A few weeks ago I experienced what was diagnosed a small TIA. My left hand rotated left to right very rythmicaly. This lasted for about 15 to 30 seconds. I was still able to move my arm no problem but after the rotation stopped I was unable to move my fingers for about 5 to 10 seconds. Approx. 15 seconds later I got a numb spot on the left side of my tongue and the left side of my lips. My CT scan was negative, my MRI was negative. The neurologist suggested and echo where it was discovered that I had a thin atrial septum but no shunts. After discovering I was a diver the cardiologist suggested the bubble test where it was discovered I had a PFO and transfer of bubbles for right left was apparent. They put me on 325mg asprin. I'm otherwise healthy and in outstanding shape and have worked out my entire life. They want to patch the PFO. They diagnosed the arm thing as a small TIA but have no evidence of it in the MRI or CT. The small episode happened when I was at rest standing. I continue to workout with no difficulties. I've never had shortness of breath or anything indicating there is some sort of cardiac problem...EKG's normal. Is there any other diagnoses this couild be? Should I have the PFO closed? Is there anyone out there that have had something similar?? Sorry for the long post.
