Doc said the I had a swollen optic nerve and have lost sight in one eye. He said the optic nerve swelling will go down on own. Will my sight get better in the one eye.

Hello maryland,
I was half blind in my right eye (if that makes sense) after my stroke. It did go away after a few weeks after my stroke. It seems fine know, though I know that can be scary. I would say that if doesn't right itself after a few weeks, maybe go back to your doctor. I hope it returns like mine did.
God Bless,
tim

Re: does vision return in mini stroke of eye

I have also had strokes in my eyes, resulting in "cotton wool spots" and vision loss.

As long as you can keep your BP under close control and allow your eyes to heal, vision will be improved within a few months. Depending on the location of the strokes on the retina, or other spots on the eyes, the vision impairment will be different.

A good eye specialist should be following you until your vision has been treated properly. and further damage is ruled out.

Re: does vision return in mini stroke of eye

Someone please correct me if I"m wrong, but I doubt there's much that can be done for a nerve that's damaged (in your case, swollen) in any way. I believe it has to heal on it's own?

Re: does vision return in mini stroke of eye

I agree with Chloe...there is no "treatment" except for the time it takes for the swelling and irritation to the nerves to resolve on it's own.

The follow up is to assure your doctor that you are progressing, and not to "treat" you. Our bodies have amazing abilities to heal themselves when given the time.

Dear Mayland1,
Hello. I want to just give you hope from you eye sight problem. I have found that some times our own bodies are better than help from any one else. My sight returned, so yours can too. Just trust in your own body. It knows better than anyone else. I hope this passes for you. Some things happen to us that don't just make much sense. But we can get strenght and insight from our problems. Please keep writing here, we all do care.
God Bless,
Tim
